Materials
Our jewelry is water-resistant and sweat-resistant, heat resistant, and made to be worn every day - no taking it off.
These are 316L stainless steel, a durable, corrosion-resistant grade - no brass or copper to turn your skin green. The tube is hollow, which is why a hoop this size still feels light.
The gold-tone and silver colours are applied by physical vapor deposition (PVD) - bonded, not plated, so they will not flake.
The size
Measured by outer diameter:
40 mm - a clear statement hoop that still reads as everyday.
50 mm - a full big hoop that sits well below the lobe.
Both are the same smooth round tube with a hinged post closure - click it open, click it shut.
Care
Made for daily wear - shower and swim in them. To keep the colour at its brightest for years: rinse with fresh water after chlorine or salt water, pat dry, and store them away from perfume and lotion.
Avoid harsh chemical jewelry cleaners - they are made for plating, and this is not plated.

2-Year Color Guarantee. If the colour on the steel fades, tarnishes or discolors within two years under normal wear, we replace the piece free. Cubic zirconia and freshwater pearls are excluded.

Built on stainless steel, not plated brass.
Most jewelry sold as "hypoallergenic" is plated brass — the plating wears through and the brass underneath is often what irritates skin. MARÉA is 316L stainless steel with a PVD-bonded color. Can I really wear it 24/7?
Yes. Every MARÉA piece is water-resistant and made to be worn every day. Shower in it, swim in it, work out in it, sleep in it.
The only care it needs: rinse with fresh water after chlorine or salt, and store it away from perfume.
Will it turn my skin green?
Green marks usually come from copper and brass reacting with skin. MARÉA pieces are made of 316L stainless steel rather than brass, with the gold color bonded by PVD, not dipped.
I’m sensitive to nickel. Is this right for me?
We can’t promise it works for absolutely everyone — individual sensitivities vary. MARÉA pieces are 316L stainless steel.

Is this real gold?
No, and we won’t pretend otherwise. It’s 316L stainless steel with a gold color applied by physical vapor deposition. Solid gold at these prices doesn’t exist — and solid gold isn’t what makes jewelry water-resistant.
How long does the color last?
PVD is bonded to the steel rather than sitting on top of it, so it doesn’t flake the way plating does. We back it with a 2-Year Color Guarantee: if it fades, tarnishes or discolors under normal wear, we replace the piece free. Cubic zirconia and freshwater pearls are excluded.
