Materials
The band is 316L stainless steel, a durable, corrosion-resistant grade - no brass or copper to turn your skin green. The gold-tone colour is applied by physical vapor deposition (PVD) - bonded, not plated.
The inlay is a square of natural mother-of-pearl shell. It is real shell, so each one has a slightly different grain and sheen, and it is softer than the steel - it can scratch or chip on a hard knock. The steel is fully water-resistant; treat the shell a little more gently.
The fit
Available in US sizes 6, 7, 8 and 9. It is a fine band with a flat ~8 mm square shell face that sits flush on the finger - it stacks easily with thin rings on either side.
Care
The steel is made for daily wear. The shell is the delicate part: take the ring off before the gym, gardening, or anything that knocks your hands around, and keep it out of chlorine and harsh cleaners.
To keep the gold-tone at its brightest: rinse with fresh water after salt water, pat dry, and store it away from perfume and lotion. Wipe the shell with a soft dry cloth only.
Water-resistant / Guarantee
The steel band is water-resistant. The natural shell is water-safe for a splash but not made for daily swimming - long soaks in chlorine or salt water will dull it over time.
2-Year Color Guarantee on the gold-tone colour of the steel. If it fades, tarnishes or discolors within two years under normal wear, we replace the piece free. The natural shell is excluded.

Most jewelry sold as "hypoallergenic" is plated brass — the plating wears through and the brass underneath is often what irritates skin. MARÉA is 316L stainless steel with a PVD-bonded color. Can I really wear it 24/7?
Yes. Every MARÉA piece is water-resistant and made to be worn every day. Shower in it, swim in it, work out in it, sleep in it.
The only care it needs: rinse with fresh water after chlorine or salt, and store it away from perfume.
Will it turn my skin green?
Green marks usually come from copper and brass reacting with skin. MARÉA pieces are made of 316L stainless steel rather than brass, with the gold color bonded by PVD, not dipped.
I’m sensitive to nickel. Is this right for me?
We can’t promise it works for absolutely everyone — individual sensitivities vary. MARÉA pieces are 316L stainless steel.

Is this real gold?
No, and we won’t pretend otherwise. It’s 316L stainless steel with a gold color applied by physical vapor deposition. Solid gold at these prices doesn’t exist — and solid gold isn’t what makes jewelry water-resistant.
How long does the color last?
PVD is bonded to the steel rather than sitting on top of it, so it doesn’t flake the way plating does. We back it with a 2-Year Color Guarantee: if it fades, tarnishes or discolors under normal wear, we replace the piece free. Cubic zirconia and freshwater pearls are excluded.
